Below are a few images of a home built lathe, the motor used is from an old blower, it has been assembled using fiberglass, and a wood cut armature bolted to a peice of steel bar stock.

The bed is HDPE and the leadscrews are hand built using 608zz beaings along with some ULN bearings. The leadscrew is driven using some Soyo motors and a all in one DB25 breakout-board and driver-board assembly.

Some hardware was used, all purchased from the local hardware store, hardware includes but is not limited to: flat bar, angle aluminum, #6 bolts, #6 washers, # 6 bolts, and some wood screws. Three steppers will manipulate the material. here are some Encoder plans
